From April 2016, the Centre Pompidou is holding a great retrospective on Paul Klee, focusing on the theme of “irony at work”. The exhibition catalogue gives a broad overview on the main steps that made up the artist’s career, from cubism, to primitivism, constructivism, etc.
The book also sheds light on what most inspired the artist and on his legacy. It goes through the years of crisis during which the artist fled away from his country. Every chapter comes with a chronology, an essay, reviews and captions, for an in-depth presentation. Interviews and letters complement the book, presenting Paul Klee beyond the artist.
