The awarding of the Pritzker Prize in 2016 to Alejandro Aravena, and his appointment as director of the 15th Venice Architecture Biennial have given the Chilean a prominent presence in the international architectural panorama. After this theoretical introduction, the issue features a total of eighteen buildings, proyects, and urban plans organized in three thematic chapters: participatory design, civic service, and sustainable landscape.
