n a beautiful chronicle, Yttje Feddes describes the developments in landscape architecture of the past forty years as clearly as it is engaging. She does this on the basis of events and projects that she has experienced in her own rich career. She drew on the new forests in the Randstad, on the Defense Line of Amsterdam, on IJburg and on the Afsluitdijk. In collaboration with others, she unraveled the secrets of greenery in the Amsterdam garden city, she found out how to preserve the special character of the dike and how to find a suitable place for the large wind farms in the Dutch landscape.
Yttje Feddes sketches a picture of the changed insights and ideas about, for example, ecology and urban living and gives insight into the profession of the landscape architect with accurate observations.
This book is published on the occasion of the presentation of the Bijhouwerprijs, which she receives for her contribution to the profession. In addition to her own story, she seizes the opportunity to highlight nine inspiring professionals and thus link the emancipation of the profession to that of women in this profession. IN DUTCH!
