C’est à la fin de la Seconde Guerre mondiale que Jean Prouvé s’intéresse à la maison, avec Pierre Jeanneret. Ils conçoivent et fabriquent alors des maisons légères . Dans les années 50, le ministère de la Reconstruction lui commande douze maisons industrialisées, qui seront montées à Meudon ; mais cette commande restera sans suite.
