The Provincial Court on the Market in Bruges is a masterpiece of Flemish neo-Gothic. For more than a century, the Provincial Court was the face of the province of West Flanders. The provincial council met here and official ceremonies and prestigious events took place here. Despite its prominent location on the Market, few people had any idea of what was going on behind the impressive facade. That is now changing. With the restoration and repurposing of the Provincial Court, the previously closed heritage has been transformed into an ‘open house’ where everyone is welcome.

This book looks back at the rich history of the building. It tells the story of Louis Delacenserie and René Buyck, the architects of this neo-Gothic masterpiece, and offers an overview of the special events that have taken place here over the past century. The book also takes a look at the restoration and repurposing led by architect Luc Van Severen, with an innovative scenography by FELT architects. IN DUTCH ONLY
