Martin Assig (born 1959) is undoubtedly one of the most distinguished contemporary German artists. In addition to his paintings, for which he has cultivated the ancient Egyptian technique of encaustic in a special way, he has come to our attention primarily through his extensively rich work in drawing. This volume, which contains 626 drawings, some of them heavily colored, is entitled St. Paul and is an artistic exploration of votive images and Paul Klee, whom Assig admired.
